Camp Health, Hope & Happiness, Alberta’s leading summer recreational facility for individuals with mental and physical disabilities is seeking a Counseling Barge Driver / Vehicle Operator staff, either male or female, for the season beginning May 14th and continuing through to August 24th, 2017. Camp Health, Hope & Happiness is a residential camp where campers and staff are on site 24/7 during their 6 day stay.
The Counseling Barge Driver / Vehicle Operator is responsible for participation, in full, of the 11-Day Summer Staff Orientation running May 14th – 24th. The term of employment is from May 14th to August 24th, 2017.
Dedicated individuals committed to the recreational needs of persons with special needs will find this position both challenging and rewarding. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Personal experience with people with special needs, sign language, water sports (I.e. canoeing, paddle boating, fishing) and leadership would be an asset but not necessary.
A current standard first aide and Level C CPR certificate (that will not expire during the work term), Boat Operator Card and the completion of a clear Police Criminal Clearance Check is required by date of employment.
Counseling Barge Driver / Vehicle Operator – $7620.00 for the term of employment (before taxes). Accommodations are provided for the term of employment listed above. Meals will be provided during camp days.
JOB DESCRIPTION – COUNSELING BARGE DRIVER / VEHICLE OPERATOR
o Abide by the Camp philosophy, “Campers Come First”.
o To generate ENTHUSIASM as the barge captain.
o To assist in the facilitation of the staff orientation to “waterfront”.
o To operate the barge during waterfront activities.
o To ensure the safety of the campers while on the barge.
o To maintain the barge in all areas; i.e. fuelling, cleaning, etc.
o To drive the camp luggage van to and from Edmonton on the first and last day of camp.
o To assist counselors loading, unloading and organizing luggage at camp and in Edmonton (Bus Captain).
o Other duties as requested by the Camp Coordinators.
o To attend meetings called by the Camp Coordinators.
o Directly responsible to the cabin Team Leader.
