how you can help

Due to the impending fate of service clubs, attrition of our kind supporters, and increasing costs to provide our services; we have recognized a need to expand the awareness of camp, form new relationships and generate new sources of revenue. Currently Camp Health, Hope and Happiness is struggling to meet the required funds to provide camp each season, not to mention the capital expenses that are inescapable with an aging facility. If people with special needs hold a place in your heart, please DONATE NOW. 95% of every dollar raised goes directly to providing summer camp to people with special needs. Let’s make a difference in the lives of special people.

our treasured roots

Camp He Ho Ha opened its doors in 1960. It all started with a vision of the members of the Kiwanis Club of South Edmonton. They recognized the need for a summer camp for people with special needs. They approached the Provincial Government who approved a plan and directed them to 107 acres parcel of property on Lake Isle.

After securing the lease, the Kiwanis Club of South Edmonton developed a plan to attract other local charitable organizations serving people with disabilities to join the effort to achieve the goal of the Kiwanis Club. Eventually the Alberta Council was formed, and these organizations contributed varying amounts of money to get the project started.

With a donation of trailers from Imperial Oil and construction of a Medical Centre by Mr. & Mrs. Muttart, the Camp commenced operation in 1960.

Today Camp provides adapted recreational opportunities to over 700 children and adults every summer.
