Summer Camp Coordinator (Full Time)
Who You Are:
You are a passionate leader with a heart for making a difference. You thrive in dynamic environments and excel at making others feel valued and empowered. Whether you are assisting with the development of innovative programs, mentoring a diverse team, or connecting with campers, you are dedicated to creating a camp experience that is safe, enriching, and rewarding.
This is a full year position beginning February 15, 2025, with a salary of $80,000-95,000. Position requires living at camp from March through September.
What You Will Be Doing:
As the heartbeat of our summer programming, you will:
- Create and Guide: Supervise the implementation of innovative, adaptive programs and activities that inspire fun, inclusion, and personal growth for campers of all abilities. Collaborate closely with activity leaders and counselors to ensure they have the resources and support needed to create meaningful experiences for campers.
- Empower a Team: Recruit, train, and support a diverse team of 30-40 summer camp staff, fostering a culture of positivity, teamwork, and motivation to provide exceptional care and programming for campers.
- Represent Camp: Connect with campers and their families/caregivers, ensuring every individual feels accepted, engaged, and supported.
- Champion Safety: Oversee health and safety protocols, creating a safe and secure environment where campers and staff thrive.
- Manage with Purpose: Manage a budget, resources, and operations to deliver a seamless camp experience.
- Connect with the Community: Share the magic of Camp He Ho Ha with local organizations, donors, and prospective campers
- Foster Growth: Collect and review feedback from campers, parents/caregivers, and staff to improve future camp operations
What You Bring to the Role:
- Education in rehabilitation sciences, disabilities studies, education, human services, or another related field.
- Enthusiasm and energy
- Sensitivity and compassion
- Previous experience working at a summer camp would be an asset
- Outstanding organizational and leadership skills to inspire your team and manage complex operations.
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and confidence to work collaboratively and respectfully with staff and campers
- Fluent in English
- Flexibility and stamina to embrace late nights and weekend hours during the busy camp season.
- Comfortable supporting children and adults with personal care, dressing and eating
- Physical ability to assist campers with physical challenges
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred but not required).
Other Requirements:
- Must provide a criminal record, including a vulnerable sector check
- Must provide a child intervention record check
- Must have a driver’s license

Camp Chef (Full Time)
Camp He Ho Ha is seeking a full-time, year round chef with experience managing a commercial kitchen, specializing in preparing high quality meals for groups ranging in size from 25 to 150.
Camp runs Monday- Friday from May till August, with some public groups during the weekend when camp is in the off season. Off season is used to plan, budget and prepare for the next season, however there is room for flexibility during the winter months for those who like to take longer periods of time off to travel or for personal reasons. Flexible schedule is a must and on-site housing is provided with option to be primary residence.
What You Bring to the Role:
- Plan and prepare nutritious, delicious, and visually appealing meals for up to 120 campers and staff.
- Serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner buffet style and provide grab and go snacks when camp is in session or a group is onsite.
- Safely use all kitchen equipment.
- Supervise and support kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to all and health and safety standards.
- Manage food inventory and storage, ensuring proper handling and rotation of stock.
- Work with director to create and adhere to budget, recognizing the not-for-profit environment we operate in.
- Accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies, including creating specialized meals.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with food vendors and suppliers.
- Hire, Train, mentor, and lead kitchen staff, fostering a team-focused environment (1-4 employees depending on season).
- Oversee staff to ensure high quality food and cleanliness.
- Bring enthusiasm and energy to your day to day work with an appreciation of the clients we serve.
- Willingness to be a part of the greater camp team, preparation for camp and camp season is an “all hands on deck” environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience running a camp kitchen would be an asst
- FoodSAFE Level 1 Certification
- WHMIS Certification
- Standard First Aid and CPR Certification (desired, will train)
