General Questions

  1. Are you open all year?
Yes, we are a year round-facility and are happy to have your group stay with us any time of year. As we are a summer camp first, many dates in the summer are not available as summer camp is in session. Most of our rental groups choose to join us in the spring, fall, and winter. We are, however, closed briefly over the Christmas Season to allow our staff time with their families. Please contact us to determine the availability for your next gathering or function.
  2. Do you have different rates for seasons or groups?
No, our rates are standard throughout the year and do not change regardless of group status, size or the age of participants. Camp He Ho Ha is committed to equity and diversity and welcomes people of any race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, sexual and gender identity, or gender expression. Our unilateral pricing structure reflects that commitment. We do however allow our littlest guests (children 2 and under) to stay for free with their accompanying parent/guardian.
  3. Do you provide a lifeguard for the pool or lakefront?
Rental groups are responsible for providing their own water safety while at Camp He Ho Ha. This includes pool/water supervision such as a lifeguard and safety on watercraft such as canoes/paddle boats. Liability for loss, injury, and death while using the pool and lakefront is not the responsibility of Camp He Ho Ha.
  4. How much is the rental deposit and what is the refund/invoicing policy?
The deposit is 20% of the expected total of your rental. This amount is due at the time of booking to secure your stay.
The guaranteed number of guests must be given 14 days before the first day of your visit. If no new numbers are given the number of guests originally booked will be the number of guests accommodated and charged for. Any additions after 14 days before check-in must be approved by Camp.
The balance of the final invoice is due upon checkout.
If your group is no longer able to join us at Camp He Ho Ha the deposit becomes non-refundable 90 days before the first day of the booking.
  5. Can we just drop in or do we have to book in advance?
All rentals must be booked in advance.
  6. How far in advance can I book?
Preference is given to returning rental groups allowing them to book the same weekend for the upcoming calendar year. Following those commitments, dates open up to the public for booking (up to a maximum of one year in advance of the current calendar date).
  7. Do you provide facilitators for any of the recreational opportunities?
Camp He Ho Ha only provides equipment/facilities for the recreational opportunities offered and does not provide staffing options.
  8. Is alcohol permitted on-site?
Yes, the responsible consumption of alcohol is permitted at Camp He Ho Ha. If you plan on selling liquor at your event, your group will require your own special events licence from AGLC. Camp He Ho Ha does not have a liquor licence.
  9. Is smoking permitted on-site?
Yes, smoking is permitted outside in designated smoking areas. Please ask one of our staff if you require assistance locating these areas.
  10. Are pets allowed on-site?
No, pets are not permitted at Camp He Ho Ha; except for designated service dogs.
  11. Is there a minimum or a maximum number of guests?
We require a minimum of 25 paying guests (or the equivalent of payment for 25 guests) for a booking. That said, there can often be multiple groups of less than 25 people sharing different meeting and accommodation rooms throughout the facility over the same period, which together, meet the minimum requirement.
We have space for up to 240 guests to join us at Camp He Ho Ha.
